Reference Medical Laboratory Pathology is recognised by the Ministry of Health Malaysia as one of the approved private laboratories to conduct COVID-19 testing. In an effort to prevent the further spread of the virus, Reference Medical Laboratory Pathology intends to implement nationwide COVID-19 screening programs. This will be done in collaboration with healthcare professionals from various medical establishments.
The Ministry of Health Malaysia has recommended to test patients who have symptoms of COVID-19 using a technique called Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction or RT-PCR. This test looks at the specific genetic material of the COVID-19 virus to determine whether it is present or not. The RT-PCR test is also recommended for people without any symptoms who have come into contact with confirmed COVID-19 patients.
